First Molecular Characterization of Cryptosporidium spp. in Patients Living with HIV in Honduras

چکیده
Cryptosporidiosis is one of the most important causes gastroenteritis in world, especially low- and middle-income countries. It caused by Apicomplexan parasite Cryptosporidium spp., mainly affects children immunocompromised people, whom it can pose a serious threat to their health, or even be life threatening. In Honduras, there are no data on species molecular diversity subtypes. Therefore, cross-sectional study was conducted between September 2019 March 2020 for identification spp. 102 patients living with HIV who attended national hospital Tegucigalpa. Stool samples were analyzed direct microscopy, acid-fast stained smears, rapid lateral flow immunochromatographic test. All that tested positive molecularly identify subtype using three different markers: gp60, cowp, 18Sr. PCR products also sequenced. Four out (3.92%) Cryptosporidiumparvum, all assigned IIa. These findings suggest possible zoonotic transmission this population.

Cryptosporidium is a protozoan parasite of humans and animals and has a worldwide distribution. The parasite has a unique epidemiology in Middle Eastern countries where the IId subtype family of Cryptosporidium parvum dominates. However, there has been no information on Cryptosporidium species in Yemen. Thus, this study was conducted in Yemen to examine the distribution of Cryptosporidium speci...

Cryptosporidiosis is a parasitic disease caused by Cryptosporidium spp. In immunocompetent individuals, it usually causes an acute and self-limited diarrhea; in infants, infection with Cryptosporidium spp. can cause malnutrition and growth retardation, and declined cognitive ability. In this study, we described for the first time the distribution of C. parvum and C. hominis subtypes in 12 child...
